1. Inspect the Roof

• Check for damage: Winter weather can cause damage to your roof, like missing or broken shingles. Inspect it for any signs of wear and tear.

• Clean gutters: Remove debris from gutters to prevent water buildup, which can lead to leaks or damage.

• Check flashing and seals: Ensure flashing around chimneys, vents, and skylights is intact.

2. Service the HVAC System

• Replace filters: A clogged filter makes your HVAC system work harder. Replace them for better air quality and efficiency.

• Check the AC: Before hot weather hits, test your air conditioning to ensure it’s working well. Have it serviced if needed.

3. Check Windows and Doors

• Seal gaps: Look for gaps or cracks around windows and doors. Reapply caulk if needed to keep drafts out and save on energy bills.

• Clean window screens: Take the screens out, clean them, and check for any holes or damage that might need repairing.

4. Clean and Inspect the Deck or Patio

• Power wash surfaces: Spring is a good time to remove dirt and grime from your outdoor spaces.

• Check for wood rot: Inspect wooden decks for rot or loose nails that could be dangerous.

• Check furniture: Ensure patio furniture is still in good condition.

5. Lawn and Garden Prep

• Fertilize and reseed your lawn: Spring is a good time to feed your grass and patch up any bare spots with new seed.

• Trim shrubs and trees: Prune overgrown branches and dead plants. This will also improve the health of your plants.

• Plant new flowers: Now’s the time to plant perennials, herbs, and other spring plants.

6. Check Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

• Replace batteries: Test detectors and replace batteries to ensure they’re working properly.

• Clean the detectors: Dust them off to ensure they can detect smoke or gas correctly.

7. Clean the Dryer Vent

• Remove lint buildup: Lint can clog up the vent and increase the risk of a fire. Clean both the vent and the hose behind the dryer.

8. Inspect Plumbing

• Check for leaks: Look under sinks, around toilets, and any other plumbing fixtures for signs of leaks or corrosion.

• Test water pressure: Low water pressure could be a sign of a hidden plumbing issue, so be sure to check.

9. Deep Clean and Organize

• Spring clean: Tackle the deep cleaning tasks like dusting ceiling fans, washing windows, and cleaning carpets or rugs.

• Declutter: Go through closets, drawers, and storage areas to declutter and donate items you no longer use.

10. Check Outdoor Lighting

11. Look in the attic ( if accessible) to ensure that roof vents are not obstructed.

12. Ensure that the grade of the land around the house encourages water to flow away from the foundation.

13. Have your home inspected by a licensed pest company and treat for wood destorying insect activity.

• Repair & Re-Treat bonds are great if your home is prone to activity.

14. Ensure that dehumidifier on terrace level is in good working order.
